NuWaves' efforts during covid-19

The spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) has drastically affected everyday human life, including day-to-day operations of the global workforce. Many businesses have been forced to close their doors during government enforced quarantines, while others remain operational—but remote. Here at NuWaves Engineering, we were no exception to effects of this virus. Although over half of our team has been working remotely for four weeks now, we are still striving each day to provide the best-quality product for our customers and end-consumers. Here are some of the precautions that we have taken to ensure that our team stays safe, healthy, and operational.

Remote Workforce

NuWaves has employed its resources and ensured it has the capacity to support over half our workforce going remote. Many employees now have the capability to work from the safety of their own home, while still maintaining the productivity and connectivity that they would have if they were on site. This has allowed for us to space out our workforce and take precaution against the spread of COVID-19. If remote employees need to come in, they are encouraged to do so quickly and to avoid contact with as many people as possible.

24/7 Operational Hours

While a majority of our team still operates on normal 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. business hours, for those who have to be on site to complete tasks, we have created a 24/7 schedule that allows employees to come in throughout different hours of the day, all seven days each week. This has helped us cut down on employee interaction that could result in the spread of COVID-19, as well as allowing our engineering, production, and executive teams to remain operational. While we are taking some time to adjust, we are still able to fulfill any requests that are sent to.

Temperature Testing

Once an employee arrives on site, they must participate in a temperature test before being permitted on site. If it is greater than 100.4°F, the individual is sent home. This is a precautionary measure that occurs daily to ensure the safety of all our team members that must remain on site. Additionally, employees must remain in the building they had their temperature taken at for the duration of their day to avoid any possible cross-contamination between buildings.

Constant Communication

With a highly dispersed team, NuWaves finds it invaluable to continue constant communication between employees and our leadership team—discussing the current state of the company, upcoming objectives and projects, and how our COVID-19 procedures are being developed and maintained. President and CEO of NuWaves, Jeff Wells, sends multiple video updates each week that keeps our team informed on all that is going on at NuWaves. Directors have daily meetings within their domain to ensure that objectives stay on track, and that everyone has a task they are working on. Through the use of Microsoft Teams, we have been able to have virtual communication both internally and externally in a safe environment.

Morale Boosters

Keeping the NuWaves’ team spirit top of mind, we have also been implementing a number of morale boosting activities to ensure that our employees stay socially connected and fulfilled during a time when they are being physically isolated. We have begun employing a number of fun, virtual events, such as: online yoga at lunch, virtual happy hour, company-wide team chats, and other socially interactive games.
